Sydney is a warm, compassionate therapist who works with individuals navigating the perinatal period and the profound individual and relational transitions that can come with pregnancy, birth, parenting, and identity shifts. She is continually moved by the vulnerability and resilience of her clients and is humbled by the opportunity to connect and be a part of their therapeutic process.
Sydney holds Certifications in Perinatal Mental Health, Perinatal Grief and Loss, and Reproductive and Birth Trauma, and has pursued specialized training in somatic approaches to therapy including trauma reprocessing modalities such as Brainspotting and Flash. Her background also includes training in lactation support, peer support, and anti-racism and inclusion, enriching her ability to hold space for the layered and intersectional experiences of early parenthood.
Her work is rooted in Attachment and Polyvagal Theory, and shaped by Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), somatic and parts work, and trauma processing. In therapy, she may invite clients to explore how the nervous system holds stress or trauma, the stories they carry about themselves or parenthood, and discover together what helps them feel most safe, seen, and supported. This might mean noticing what the body is telling them, getting curious about inner parts or protective patterns, or simply having space to exhale and be met with compassion and understanding.
As a parent to three young children, Sydney has personally experienced the complexities of the perinatal period, including loss, birth trauma, a NICU stay, breastfeeding challenges, and the shifting sense of identity and relationship changes that can come with parenthood. Her own journey began after a traumatic first birth and postpartum experience that left her feeling overwhelmed, confused, and vulnerable despite all the preparation she had done. Through her own therapeutic process, she found healing and returned to her love of psychology, completing an MA in Counselling Psychology with the hope of supporting other parents and hopeful parents with more validation, tools, and hope.
Sydney’s approach is relational, collaborative, and grounded in authenticity, with an emphasis on creating a space that feels attuned to each client’s needs. Clients often find that their work together helps them create space for self-compassion and understanding, deepens their capacity to cope with stress, uncertainty, and overwhelm, and strengthens their sense of connection with themselves, their bodies, and in relationships.
